The Enchantment Begins
Hurry! The Princess is waking up! It's time to start the new year and begin the Enchanted Conversation.
Here you will find an array of stories, poems, art and illustration, and information on the first theme of our very first issue: "Sleeping Beauty." Contributing writers and artists have gone beyond the stereotypes and Hollywood images of the tale and explored what Beauty might have dreamed, what motivated the "evil" fairy who put her to sleep, who kept her company during her long, long, nap -- even what she might eat at her first meal after waking. We've also got reviews of books that retell the story and one writer's reaction to discovering that in Charles Perrault's version of "Sleeping Beauty," there's much more to the story than a kiss and a happily ever after. We've even got a report on "Steampunk" and fairy tales.
Oh, I almost forgot ...
We've got contests!
Welcome. Let's start the conversation here.

This was a wonderful issue. I was looking for a story or article featuring Brunhilde, but my disappointment was more than made up for by some great fiction and poetry. "Spindle Speaks" was especially moving. I will be back for Beauty and the Beast, for sure.
Beauty and the Beast has always been my favorite fairy tale, in all its versions! I believe that Phantom of the Opera and Dracula are both modern day twists on the story. All of these are my favorites! Can't wait for this issue!
